Hello and welcome to Writing-Wrongs.com. I’m your host, Audra Brown. If you’re looking for a rambling, ranting, random blog, this is not it. (Try my personal author blog, Tough Target. There are no rules over there and if there were, I’d do my dangdest to break them.)
Here, it’s all about good information and interesting things. There are no topics that are off limits, but here’s where we’re going to start: Guns, Martial Arts, Muscle Cars, and the real world of Farming and Ranching. Why these things? Simple. Because I love and know these topics and all too often, I read or see such ridiculous misinformation about them.
And where is this coming from? Well, here’s a short version of me:
I grew up working. I farmed, ranched, and whatever else I had time for. But, I wanted to be a Power Ranger… (Don’t laugh, Tommy was awesome.) So, I started Taekwon-Do.
Fifteen plus years in and I’ve racked up four world championship medals, including two golds in 2010, when I won women’s power breaking.
I’m a expert level black belt (4th degree), and I’m still at it. I’ve been overseas and around the country because of the martial arts, so I know how to kick, how to punch, and even how to break concrete with my hands. I don’t know it all yet, but I like to think I’ve got a pretty good start in Taekwondo.
In more recent years, I have developed the ability to
bore anyone by talking about guns. I shoot because it’s a good idea out here in the boonies and because it’s a lot of fun. Naturally, I’m now into competitive shooting such as USPSA/IPSC, bullseye at the Melrose Turkey Shoot (you win a frozen turkey, no birds get shot), and anything else I can find.
What kinds of guns? All types of guns! But, my favorites are .44 Remington Magnums. Dirty Harry ain’t got nothing on me.
If you want to know something about a Desert Eagle or any other big gun, I should be able to help.
I was homeschooled until I started taking college classes at sixteen. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with degrees in Math and Computer Science with minors in English and Ancient Greek.
I also have invested and embarked upon an adventure with my brother involving quite a few old cars. A 68 Mustang Coupe is the only project I can drive around,
but a stable of awesome potential is under the shed, and out behind the house, in the barn, and a few other places… The lineup includes a 68 GTO, 69 Roadrunner, 68 Roadrunner, 69 GTX, and a 1954 Hudson Hornet. Muscle car restoration is time-consuming, but worth it.
I do all this somewhere on the Texas-Arizona Border.
I’ll start with what I think is useful info that I hope will help you write with more expertise in these areas or just amuse you. Maybe I’ll pick up a story someday and the main character will refrain from silencing his revolver or cutting his cotton field.
Please comment if you have a question or see a problem. Blogging is like a well of crude, and feedback is the refinery.
So here’s to setting the record a bit straighter. Onward!
